Late last month, Jeff Batt (7th Grade Level Administrator) accepted an administrative position at a Chicago high school, and we wish him success in his new role. Given the timing and the beginning of summer, we immediately launched a search for this important Grade Level Administrator position at WJHS. I am extremely excited to announce Anne Bishop as our new 7th Grade Level Administrator at WJHS.
Ms. Bishop’s experience as both an educator and leader in our District 39 community make her an ideal candidate for this position. Ms. Bishop has spent the last nine years at Highcrest Middle School as a beloved 6th grade science and social studies teacher, showcasing her well-rounded abilities as both a classroom educator and community-builder among D39 students, staff, and families. During her tenure, Ms. Bishop also served as a teacher leader on a variety of committees, including most recently the District Strategic Advisory Team, the Social Studies Curriculum Committee, the 5-8 Science Curriculum Committee and the Joint Leadership Team for Culture and Climate.
In addition to her work in the classroom and on district committees, Ms. Bishop has served as the President of the Wilmette Education Association (WEA) for the last four years. In this role, she collaborated with teachers, building leadership and District administration as an advocate for our district educators and students to help ensure a well-rounded educational experience for the children of Wilmette. Ms. Bishop also positively affected the Highcrest community through her work with school clubs, including speed-cubing, cross country, and debate, to help to enrich our students’ sense of belonging through shared interests.
A graduate of the University of Michigan, Ms. Bishop received her Master of Education degree from DePaul and recently completed her Principal Leadership licensure at Northeastern Illinois. Ms. Bishop is also a proud alum of District 39 and New Trier High School.
Please join me in welcoming Ms. Bishop to WJHS! I know that her leadership, educational expertise, child-centered focus, and sincere commitments to building relationships within our community and mentoring students to achieve their best will make her a terrific addition to our learning community.
